Regional monitoring following Niger’s coup (7 August 2023)

The deadline set by ECOWAS did (or will soon) expire. Niger reacted by closing its airspace and claims that two ‘central African countries’ predeployed troops.

It also warns that any country taking part in an intervention will be considered as cobelligerent.
