๐ฉ More details about the ECOWAS standby force are emerging. RFI reports it will be constituted of 25.000 troops, with most coming from ๐ณ๐ฌ Nigeria.
๐น๐จ๐ฎ Cรดte d’Ivoire announced it will commit up to 1100 troops.
๐น RFI reports that ๐ฌ๐ผ Guinea-Bissau would also participate to the force.
๐น ๐๐ซ๐ท๐บ๐ธ The African Union, France, and the US all announced backing the ECOWAS decisions.
๐น ๐ง๐ซ Burkina Faso suspended Radio Omega, a popular radio, after it aired the interview of a pro-Bazoum supporter.
๐น The security around Bazoum’s residence was reportedly heightened on Aug 9, with 70 guards now stationed in the vicinity.
UPDATE: I updated the map to remove a claim that France would “study any request for military support from the ECOWAS”. This was an assertation originally made by Le Point, which has since then been removed.
